QGMA Hook Type Shot Blasting Machine Delivered to the UK for Pressure Vessel Surface Preparation

The demand for reliable surface preparation equipment continues to increase across the UK manufacturing industry, particularly among companies involved in the

 production of pressure vessels, storage tanks, and fabricated steel components. As coating systems become more advanced and corrosion protection standards become

 reducing operating costs. To meet these requirements, QGMA recently completed the production and delivery of a customized Hook Type Shot Blasting Machine for a

 customer in the United Kingdom. The equipment was specifically designed for cleaning large steel pressure vessels before painting and protective coating, providing an

 efficient and dependable solution for heavy-duty industrial applications.


The customer manufactures pressure vessels for industrial sectors including energy, water treatment, compressed air systems, and chemical processing. These products are

 typically fabricated from heavy steel plates and feature numerous welded joints, curved surfaces, and reinforcing structures that require thorough surface preparation

 before coating. High-quality blasting is essential because the adhesion and long-term performance of industrial coatings depend directly on the cleanliness and roughness

 of the steel surface. After reviewing the customer's production requirements and workpiece dimensions, QGMA designed a customized hook type shot blasting machine

 capable of handling large pressure vessels while maintaining stable cleaning performance throughout continuous production.


The supplied machine features a blasting chamber with internal dimensions of 2 × 4 meters, providing sufficient space for processing a wide range of pressure vessels with

 different diameters and lengths. The chamber size was selected according to the customer's typical products, allowing operators to load large cylindrical tanks efficiently

 without compromising blasting performance. Adequate internal space also ensures that steel shot can circulate freely around the workpiece, resulting in more uniform

 surface treatment and improved cleaning efficiency. The machine is suitable for both individual pressure vessels and small production batches, giving the customer greater

 flexibility in daily manufacturing operations.


To achieve excellent cleaning performance, the machine is equipped with five high-efficiency blast turbines that are strategically positioned around the blasting chamber.

 Each blast turbine delivers a powerful stream of steel shot at high velocity, effectively removing rust, mill scale, welding residue, oxidation, and other surface contaminants

 from the steel surface. The arrangement of the five turbines has been carefully optimized to create overlapping blasting zones, ensuring that every section of the pressure

 vessel receives consistent abrasive impact during operation. As the suspended workpiece rotates inside the chamber, the abrasive flow reaches all exposed surfaces,

 including curved sections and welded areas that are often difficult to clean using conventional methods. This configuration significantly reduces shadow areas while

 improving the overall quality and uniformity of surface preparation.


One of the notable features of this customized project is the pneumatic chamber door, which was selected to improve both operational convenience and workplace safety.

 Compared with manually operated doors, the pneumatic door opens and closes smoothly with minimal operator effort, reducing loading time and increasing production

 efficiency. The automated movement also minimizes the risk of improper door positioning before blasting begins, helping maintain a secure operating environment

 throughout the cleaning cycle. For customers processing heavy pressure vessels on a regular basis, the pneumatic door contributes to faster workflow and more reliable

 daily operation.


The hook conveyor system remains one of the most suitable solutions for cleaning pressure vessels because it allows heavy cylindrical workpieces to remain suspended

while rotating continuously during blasting. This movement exposes every side of the vessel to the abrasive stream without requiring manual repositioning, resulting in

consistent cleaning quality across the entire surface. Compared with manual blasting or fixed-position cleaning methods, the rotating hook design improves efficiency

while reducing labor intensity. It also minimizes the possibility of missed areas that could negatively affect coating adhesion after painting.


Efficient abrasive recycling is another important feature incorporated into the equipment supplied to the UK customer. After striking the pressure vessel, the steel shot falls

 into the recovery system, where it is automatically collected, transported, separated, and returned to the blast turbines for reuse. Dust, broken abrasive particles, welding

 debris, and other contaminants are removed during the separation process, ensuring that only qualified abrasive media re-enters the blasting cycle. This closed-loop

 recovery system reduces abrasive consumption, lowers operating costs, and maintains consistent blasting performance throughout extended production periods.


Continuous recycling also improves the environmental performance of the equipment by reducing unnecessary material waste.


To provide a cleaner working environment, the machine is equipped with a high-efficiency dust collection system capable of continuously extracting airborne dust

 generated during the blasting process. Maintaining effective dust control is particularly important when processing large fabricated steel components because significant

 amounts of rust, scale, and abrasive fines are released during cleaning. The filtration system helps maintain clear visibility inside the equipment while reducing dust

 accumulation throughout the workshop. A cleaner operating environment supports better equipment reliability, improves operator comfort, and assists manufacturers in

 meeting modern workplace environmental standards.


Durability was another key consideration throughout the design process. The interior surfaces of the blasting chamber are protected by wear-resistant liners that withstand

 continuous impact from high-speed steel shot. These protective liners significantly extend the service life of the chamber while reducing maintenance requirements over

 long-term operation. The blast turbines, abrasive recovery components, and conveying system are all manufactured using robust industrial-grade materials to ensure

 dependable performance under demanding production conditions. Combined with an intelligent electrical control system, the equipment offers stable operation,

 straightforward maintenance, and reliable performance for long production schedules.


Before shipment, the complete machine underwent comprehensive factory testing to verify the performance of every major system, including the blast turbines, abrasive

 circulation equipment, pneumatic door, hook rotation mechanism, dust collector, and electrical controls. Each inspection was conducted to ensure that the equipment met

 the project specifications before international transportation. After successful testing, the machine was carefully prepared for export and shipped to the United Kingdom,

 where it will support the customer's production of high-quality pressure vessels for industrial applications.
